A thirty-something, crafty, homeschooling, birth-junkie, farmer-wannabe suburbanite goes on about mothering, nature, crafts, books, movies, projects, and what's right and wrong in the world, while the dishes pile up in the sink.

I have no ideas about the missing nest....but more importantly, how can the parent birds take care of the eggs if there is no nest? Do you think the eggs are not viable and the parents took the nest to another location to start over?

I don't think the parents will take care of the eggs without a nest. The nest not only cushions the eggs, but insulates them as well. They are constantly moving the material around, covering and uncovering the eggs, based on the temperature. I think it's possible that they moved the nesting material somewhere else, I certainly don't have a better explanation.
I love the goats in coats! How about knitting a nest?
